Virtual Showcase: Systems Thinking in Consulting – Why and How

This session explored the potential for using systems thinking in consulting practice and some of the issues that might arise. Systems is the management discipline that has been developed specifically to address issues of complexity and uncertainty and can provide alternative solutions to some of the more intractable and commonly encountered problems that clients expect consultants to help with.

In many cases the intractability of some problems comes from trying to tackle systemic problems in non-systemic ways. At the same time that adopting systems approaches can offer radically different solutions, it can also disrupt standard consulting models – in some cases doing in days what would have taken months. As the level of complexity and uncertainty in the business environment increases the need for systemic approaches is only to increase.

This Showcase had the potential to add a powerful approach to your repertoire and encourage you to rethink how you approach business problems.
